World’s Tallest Building Burj Dubai is now open for business. Burj Dubai was opened today in a ceremony, celebrating the fourth anniversary of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum becoming Ruler of Dubai. The building will house 900 residences on floors 19 through 108. The observation deck is on Floor 124. Sky lobbies on Floors 43, 76 and 123 will have fitness facilities, swimming pools and Jacuzzis. It has a hotel designed by Giorgio Armani.
Valley Micro-E Hotel is the largest solar-power hotel on Earth located in China. It is built by Himin Group. This hotel opened its gates Dezhou City, eastern China. It covers 75,000 square-meters and features thousands of solar panels and solar heat pipe collectors that harvest and store enough energy to sustain 70% of the hotel’s needs.
The “Lilypad” would take advantage of all of today’s green technologies, including generating power from the sun, wind and water, and would produce zero emissions from its residents. This city is able to hold 50,000 people, it is designed to be built if the worlds cities flood because of global warming.
Erta Ale is an active shield volcano located in the Afar Region of northeastern Ethiopia. It is the most active volcano in Ethiopia. Erta Ale stands 613 metres tall, with a lava lake, one of only four in the world.
Blood Pond Hot Springs is found in Beppu, Japan. There is so much iron in these waters that it turns the spring red. The Blood Pond Hot Springs is the most photogenic of the nine springs.
The $240-million, 2,000-foot Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge will open to the public in September 2010. It is a 3.5-mile corridor that begins in Clark County, Nevada, and ends in Mohave County, Arizona.
Ferrari World is an upcoming theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. It will set to open in 2010. The theme park will feature an iconic sleek red roof that’s said to be directly inspired by the classic double curve side profile of the Ferrari GT body, spanning 2,152,782 square feet and carrying the largest Ferrari logo ever created.
Seashell Temple is located in the hills in northern part of Taiwan. It is almost covered entirely with seashells.
The Marble Caves of Rio Tranquilo is located in the Coyhaique province, Chile. Las Cavernas de Marmol, as the Spanish call them were created by the clear waters of Rio Tranquilo that dug into a giant limestone peninsula, creating an impressive labyrinth of caves. The peninsula is known as the Marble Cathedral and can be reached by boat, during a guided tour.
